Dubai, United Arab Emirates - May 06, 2019:  On May 11th, over 250,000 participants in over 200 venues across 19 countries and 5 continents will walk from Darkness Into Light.

Darkness into Light UAE is proud to announce that four venues in the UAE will host the Darkness into Light walk again this year; Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Kite Beach in Dubai, Green Mubazzarah Park in Al Ain and Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation.

The Darkness into Light walk is a unique international event that strives to unite communities and raise awareness for Mental Health.

The Darkness into Light walk, organised by the voluntary community group Darkness Into Light UAE in support of Pieta House and Al Jalila Foundation, is a global movement dedicated to supporting those who experience a mental illness.

By walking from Darkness into Light, everyone can play a part in removing the stigma around mental illness and spreading the power of hope throughout the world.

This unique event, which is symbolic of the journey from despair to hope, begins at the darkest point of the night just before the sun rises across the globe. It highlights the struggles of those suffering from a mental illness in the darkness and celebrates hope for the future, surrounded by a supportive community walking into the light.

Thousands of people will walk a 5-kilometre route into the light of dawn. It sparks conversation about the importance of mental health and wellbeing in all of our lives and ignites an invaluable support network for those suffering in our community.

The entry fees raised go directly toward mental health treatment and research.
