Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 15, 2017: A high-level delegation from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) visited Expo 2017 in Astana in Kazakhstan to get an overview of the public health, safety and medical contingency plans in place.
The visit is part of the ongoing medical preparations that Dubai Health Authority will undertake for Expo 2020, which will be hosted in Dubai.
The delegation was led by Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the DHA.
Bin Kalban met with the chairperson and the organizing members of the operational committee of Expo 2017. He received a detailed explanation on the plans and processes in place at the Expo to protect public health and safety.
The delegation also carried out site visits to understand the medical equipment, health and emergency processes on site and mechanisms implemented to coordinate and cooperation between the various teams and institutions involved in the event.
Bin Kalban briefed the organizational team of Expo 2017 about the medical preparations in place in Dubai for expo 2020.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be a celebration for all, which, through its theme 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future', will provide a platform to encourage creativity, innovation and collaboration. This is underpinned by Expo's three pillars: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
Expo opens on 20 October 2020 and closes six months later, on April 10, 2021. More than 200 participants, including nations, multilateral organizations, corporations and educational institutions, are expected to take part.
It will be the first world Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region and the Arab World.
