A perfumery of pure pleasure
Parfums de Marly has elected to re-create the splendours of a golden age in perfumery.
Legendary perfumery from the days before marketing existed.
Even before globalisation existed.
A true perfumery d'auteur, unconstrained and demanding, resolute in its principles and taste.
Such is the origin of this light-hearted yet respectful nod to 18th century France, a unique moment in time when France represented the very pinnacle of perfumery, with Paris and Grasse in the vanguard, and horses were the glory of Versailles. King Louis XV was equally devoted to two passions, thoroughbreds and perfume, which explains why, in 1739, he commissioned sculptor Guillaume Coustou to create the famous “chevaux de Marly”, two equestrian statues that once adorned the monumental fountain whose water was always perfumed, like that of all the other fountains at the court of France (known as “the perfumed court” among the other monarchies of Europe).
Akaster & Carlisle, two new and passionate fragrances
AKASTER / ORIENTAL MELODY
Composed by nose Hamid Merati-Kashani (Firmenich), this sophisticated, powerfully charismatic fragrance – not entirely masculine nor yet completely feminine – is built around the finest ingredients: Taif rose, Bulgarian rose, African geranium and a bouquet of sensual woody notes (patchouli and oud). And there is also that almost imperceptible delicious hint (praline) creeping in and suddenly twisting the lovely harmony into something much more modern. A blend of warmth and sensuality, as undoubtedly chic as it is easy to wear, this fragrance is on its best behaviour as it emerges from its elegant black bottle and heads out for the evening.
Head notes: Sicilian lemon - Canadian cypress leaves
Heart notes: Bulgarian rose - Taif rose - African geranium.
Base notes: musk - oud - patchouli - cardamom - sandalwood - praline.
CARLISLE / HEART'S BALM
Created by young perfumer Quentin Bisch (Givaudan), this sensual fragrance is built mainly around a “sandalwood” theme that is warm, with a hint of vanilla, soothing and rich. Aromas of vanilla, dark patchouli and opoponax. The blend distils its aura of Oriental mystery through a delicate play on its accents of nutmeg, saffron and Tonka bean. Perhaps it is the unexpected combination of sharp green apple with soft vanilla, but on the skin this rich, densely textured creation ultimately reveals itself as irrepressibly joyful.
Head notes: green apple - nutmeg
Heart notes: Tonka bean - davana - osmanthus - rose
Base notes: vanilla - patchouli - opoponax.
