Aims at Enhancing Sharjah Exports

Sharjah, 23 April 2017:

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed an agreement with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in its capacity as the representative of the International Certificates of Origin Council, according to which CoOs issued by Sharjah Chamber will be awarded international recognition. The agreement aims to allow scaling of international commercial exchange, facilitating investments, and allowing national products to enter international markets.

The agreement was signed at Dubai Chamber by His Excellency Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri, Director- General of SCCI, and Atiq Juma Faraj Nasib, Senior Director of Commercial Services Sector at Dubai Chamber, and Deputy Chair of the International Country of Origin Accreditation Committee of the ICC World Chamber Federation. The signing was also attended by HE Humaid Mohammed bin Salim, Secretary-General of the Federation of UAE's Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General for Members Services at SCCI; Saif Al Matrooshi, Director of Membership and Accreditation at SCCI, along with senior officials from both sides. 

His Excellency Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri, Director- General of SCCI, described the agreement as a major step in supporting the competitiveness of Sharjah's private sector, and enhancing exports from the Emirate to international markets.

Al Hajri reaffirmed that SCCI is keen on enhancing collaboration with all parties in order to support the business sector and elevate its members' capabilities and presence on the international level. SCCI, Al Hajri continued, will spare an effort to offer innovative solutions and simplify processes and procedures for its members.

For his part, Atiq Juma Faraj Nasib, Senior Director of Commercial Services Sector at Dubai Chamber and Deputy Chair of the International Country of Origin Accreditation Committee of the ICC World Chamber Federation, said the agreement reflects the strong collaboration and partnership that joins the two parties, highlighting that abiding by international standards in CoO issuance enhances the position of the UAE business community and elevates its international reputation. Nasib invited all local and regional chambers to adopt these standards, in order to enhance collaboration and strengthen ties with international peers.
