Earth Hour 2017 - Youth call for a zero carbon future

Dubai, UAE, March 27, 2017:  Our planet faces an uncertain future due to the threats posed by climate change. The consumption of fossil fuels continues to be the largest contributor to this global warming and it is imperative that we move irrevocably to natural, clean sources for our energy needs .

Thus, Earth Hour, which is celebrated the world over on 25th March, is an event of immense significance as it reminds civil society to move to a zero carbon lifestyle.

With this objective in mind, Green Hope Foundation, our youth organisation, founded on the principles of sustainability and green economy took part in DEWA's (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) Earth Hour campaign at Bay Avenue Park. Several of our youth volunteers spent several hours spreading awareness amongst the thousands of visitors who came to the event. We showed our solidarity for this cause by lighting candles and thereafter took part in the march to promote the cause of clean energy.

Earlier in the day, our members also participated in the walk to spread awareness about Down's syndrome at Zabeel Park.
