Fit-out contractor leads SME segment for ongoing commitment to sustainable practices
Dubai, UAE 09 February 2017: Summertown Interiors, the UAE's leading fit-out contractor specialising in green interiors, was recently awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Label by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) for its ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices.
Benchmarking companies' sustainable practices in the workplace, marketplace, community and environment, the CSR Label showed Summertown outperformed the average score of participating companies by 25 percent.
Commenting on the achievement Marcos Bish, Managing Director of Summertown Interiors said: “We are proud as an SME to receive this award alongside major international companies who are deemed real leaders in the field of sustainability.
“We view our sustainability strategy as essential to the longevity of the business. Our belief in sustainability as a driver of growth and profitability is mirrored in our latest financial results. During our last financial year, approximately half of our projects were accredited as meeting sustainability criteria.
“SMEs may think that sustainability is only relevant to large companies and that for a small business, the administrative and financial costs outweigh the benefits. We hope that our success highlights how the implementation of a CSR strategy can have a positive impact on business growth, competitiveness and the community at large.
“We will continue to pioneer the ‘green' movement here in the UAE, and look to inspire and help SMEs to integrate ‘green' practices into their business strategy.”
