SteelFab Middle East 2017 opens its doors today (Monday)

Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi will inaugurate the region's leading steel fabrication event

Sharjah, January 15th 2017:  Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Customs and Seaports Department will inaugurate the region's leading steel fabrication event “SteelFab Middle East 2017” at Expo Center Sharjah, with over 900 national and international brands from 111 Emirati companies and 206 foreign companies in participation, and an exhibiting area exceeding 26,000 square meters.

Running till 19th January, the event provides a unique opportunity for businessmen, investors, and experts to review cutting-edge equipment and machines for steel fabrication. 

The exhibition also presents modern technologies in steel forming, metal-cutting, finishing, milling, and heavy machinery, as well as other related engineering applications.

HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Center Sharjah and Chairman of UFI's MEA Chapter emphasized the importance of Steelfab exhibition, this importance stems from the vital role this industry plays in the economical and industrial development of the society, and being a pivotal component of many other vital industries, such as mining, refractories, ferroalloys industries.

This comes as Al Midfa forecasted that major economic sectors, including manufacturing, construction, building, infrastructure, and nascent sectors such as aviation will maintain a high level of demand for productions of steel industry and metal in the region. This includes other related industries that also depends on these productions like automobile industry, shipbuilding, home appliances, canned goods, equipment manufacturing as well as other engineering industries. 

Al Midfa considered SteelFab to be one of the most notable economic and commercial events in Sharjah. Furthermore, he noted that this event sheds light on the emirate's economy as an international destination for major event of international value. 

Al Midfa highlighted predictions that suggest Arab investment in this industry could reach $100 billion, with steel demand of 55 million tons in 2017. Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar will probably offer contracts ranging between $140-160 billion until 2019. With speculations of cancellation, postponement, or downgrading unlikely, AL Midfa forecasted a healthy sector on the long run.

AL Midfa highlighted some of the mega projects in KSA, including the Eastern Subsidiary Centre Project executed by Al Mezini Company with a value of $15 billion, and Mecca metro lines (B – C), worth $8 billion. In the United Arab Emirates, there are Al Maktoum International Airport Expansion (Dubai World Central DWC) worth 32 billion dollars, and “Western Chemical City” project worth $20 billion. In Qatar, there is “Qatar Rail” project and the refining projects in Kuwait. There are other projects related to Expo 2020 Exhibition and Fifa World Cup 2022.

The CEO of Expo Center Sharjah stressed that holding the 13th edition of the exhibition with this remarkable number of international companies from all over the world demonstrates the success of SteelFab in positioning itself at the forefront of the industry, on the national, regional, and international levels.
The event will include special pavilions, and will offer various live performances along with a number of technical seminars. The exhibition offers the opportunity to explore cutting-edge equipment, advanced technologies, new products, and the modern applications of all forms of shaping metals and iron industry. 

Expo Centre Sharjah invited interested industrialists and visitors to register for the show via the website www.steelfabme.com.  The exhibition welcomes visitors daily from 10.00 AM to 7.00 PM, with free admission and free car parking facilities.
