MRM Falcons and F3 shatter records on third day of Fazza Championship for Falconry Tilwah

Falcons break 18-second barrier regularly despite windy conditions 

DUBAI, 5th January 2017:  The Fazza Championship for Falconry Tilwah organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) produced record-breaking performances on third morning of competition in Dubai on Wednesday 4th January. 
In yet another duel for supremacy between Team F3 and MRM Falcons, the standard of competition was raised to a new level in the Sheikhs category of Jeer Shaheen Farkh and Jeer Shaheen Jernas events as their entries broke the 18-second barrier regularly.

Team F3 clocked the fastest time of 17.560 seconds in the Jeer Shaheen Farkh (Sheikhs) category while MRM Falcon entry recorded the best qualifying time of 17.551 seconds in the Jeer Shaheen Jernas (Sheikhs) category. 

The largest and most popular among the series of falconry championships, the Fazza Championship for Falconry – Tilwah, will continue until 12th January in the dedicated site in Ruwayyah area with the participation of elite contenders in various categories and groups.
Ms. Suad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Championships at HHC, thanked the media for their extensive coverage of this traditional heritage which is exclusive to this region.

“The local media is delivering not only by covering the championship but by sending a message to all the youth about this kind of traditional sport,” she said.

All the 10 qualifiers for the final round in the Jeer Shaheen Farkh (Sheikhs) category clocked under 18 seconds with Rashid Said's falcons representing F3 recording the fastest times of 17.560 and 17.616.
MRM Falcon's Mohammed Matar Markhan broke the dominance of F3 clocking the third fastest time of 17.744 and is poised to pose a strong challenge in the final round having five qualifiers. Markhan's entries clocked 17.799, 17.869, 17.883 and 17.897.
Team F3's entries by Khalifa Ahmed bin Mijrin also had impressive qualifying times of 17.777, 17.784 and 17.908 80.41.
“It was a tough day on the course caused by cross winds which resulted in our birds veering off the track. Despite that we managed to get good results and had many qualifiers in the finals in both Jeer Shaheen Farkh and Jeer Shaheen Jernas events. We congratulate those who qualified and hope to do our best in the finals,” said Khalifa bin Mijrin.

The competition was more even in the Jeer Shaheen Jernas (Sheikhs) category with the top four qualifiers clocking under 18 seconds.

MRM Falcon entry recorded the fastest time of 17.551 followed by F3-K (17.843), YLS (17.964) and F3-K (17.976).

However, Team F3 had the most number of finalists of five in this event clocking times of 18.335, 18.374 and 18.590.

MRM Falcon had three qualifiers in the finals and YLS secured two spots.  

The official sponsors of heritage events organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center are Al Tayer Motors, Land Rover, Dubai Airports, AW Rostamani (Arabian Automobiles), Dubai World Trade Center, Global Village and Al Oula Radio.
