Partnership focuses on developing human capital, exposing students to oil and gas industry
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 7th November 2016: The Petroleum Institute (PI) is Young ADIPEC's academic and new outreach program partner. As part of the collaboration, field trips have been conducted throughout the year to provide students an opportunity to experience working in the oil and gas industry first hand. In addition, the PI will have a presence at Young ADIPEC as well as a presence at the Engineering Zone of Young ADIPEC, where there will be an experiential and edutainment program, enabling students to engage and explore different aspects of the industry.
“The Petroleum Institute is proud to partner with ADIPEC to ensure the nation's human capital is developed to support the immediate and long-term needs of the oil and gas industry,” said Dr. Ebrahim Al Hajri, Director of Collaboration and External Relations at the PI . “The PI is committed to leveraging our research capabilities and relationships with industry to expose students to all aspects of the industry, while underscoring the important role of science, technology and engineering.”
More than 700 students from across the UAE have passed through the program to date and the aim is to increase the number of participants in 2016 as the PI continues to engage and encourage students to explore and understand what the oil and gas industry has to offer. Young ADIPEC & PI's outreach program visited Al Etihad High School & Khalifa Bin Zayed High School on the 20th of October and 60 students have participated in the engineering workshops and science experiments.
