Dubai, UAE, September 28, 2016:  Dubai will host the second Dubai Health Regulation and Medical Tourism Conference that will bring together leaders in the field to discuss latest advances in health regulation and ways to strengthen regulatory mechanisms to ensure high-quality healthcare and patient safety. 

The conference will also discuss regulations for medical tourism and the World Health Tourism Conference will facilitate a networking session during the during the two-day event.

The congress, organized by the Dubai Health Authority, will take place on October 4 and 5 at the InterContinental Hotel, Festival City.

More than 400 participants and high-level officials including the president of the International Organization of Medical Tourism, president of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA), officials from Ministry of Health, Health Authority Abu Dhabi (Haad), Emirates Medical Association, and World Health Regulatory Authorities etc. will attend the conference.

Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, Director of Health Regulation at the Medical Tourism Project at the DHA, said: “Health regulations are the cornerstone to achieve high quality services and patient safety. The conference provides an opportunity for stakeholders to compare regulatory models, examine ways of promoting best practice in regulatory governance and performance, discuss the latest advances in the field and facilitates knowledge exchange. The Conference will provide participants with insights, perspectives and an opportunity to discuss current challenges in health professional and healthcare facilities regulation.”

Dr Al Marzouqi added that globalization and the flow of health professionals across countries has had a growing impact on the importance of regulation of the health sector. “The way forward is mutual recognition of clauses that facilitate free movement of individuals between relevant countries and conferences such as this one provide an opportunity to discuss such pertinent topics with highly qualified professionals in the field from across the world.” she added.

The conference will also discuss importance of accreditation to improve patient safety and consequently better care delivery systems.
