Students to pursue their MBBS program at the Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), which is located in Dubai Healthcare City.

Dubai, UAE, August 31, 2016:  The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has sponsored five Emirati students for an undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program.

The six-year program is offered at the Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), which is located in Dubai Healthcare City.

The sponsorship is in line with DHA's ‘Sponsoring Emiratis in the medical sector' program, which aims to sponsor 130 Emiratis every year to continue their higher education in the fields of medicine, nursing, paramedics and health sciences.

DHA recently launched this program to promote and foster Emiratization in the medical sector.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, said: “These programs are vital to promote, support and foster Emirati youth to opt for medical services and to seek specializations and super-specializations in medicine. Highly-qualified health professionals are the backbone of the health sector and through medical scholarship programs in the country and abroad we aim to promote an environment of learning in the medical sector.”

Her Excellency Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson of MBRU's Board of Trustees, said, “Initiatives such as this one, taken by Dubai Health Authority, reflect the importance of the joint efforts among stakeholders in attracting Emirati talent to the medical field - a necessity for the progress of our country's healthcare sector.  This scholarship initiative is an empowering tool for us at MBRU in our quest to build the doctors of tomorrow”.

Once the students complete their MBBS program,  DHA will provide them with secure jobs at the authority's hospitals and centres.
