Dubai, UAE, 2 May 2016: The Organising Committee of the Arab Media Forum (AMF), has announced Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)'s participation as Sustainability Partner in the 15th AMF. The forum is under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This will further enhance relations between DEWA and Dubai Press Club (DPC), the organisers of AMF. It will also help spread awareness about rationalising electricity and water use in our daily lives.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, noted that the forum creates a regional platform to facilitate media dialogue, and enables the development of the media. This in turn helps people achieve their objectives and unleash their potential, while working towards a brighter future with greater well-being, stability, and development.
Al Tayer commended the organising committee for its sustainable design of the venue, and the green landscapes that surround it. This reflects the importance of environmental preservation, to encourage all attendees to follow a sustainable lifestyle. This will also raise awareness among media professionals about the importance of participating in, and promoting environmentally-friendly practices, by rationalising energy and water use. This will enable the sustainable development of the community.
“We are glad to participate in the 15th AMF, the largest event of its kind in the Arab World. We are committed to cooperating with local, regional, and international media, to promote the importance of sustainability as a way of life, to protect our already-limited natural resources, for generations to come,” said Al Tayer.
HE Mona Ghanim Al Marri, Chairperson of the AMF Organising Committee and Dubai Press Club, commended DEWA for its efforts to implement innovative programmes and initiatives, and adopt the latest technical solutions. This highlights DEWA's commitment to keeping up to date with international trends that are major factors in the UAE's comprehensive development. This supports the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021, which focuses on sustainability as a key element, to transform Dubai into a smart, integrated, connected, and sustainable city, capable of providing a clean and healthy environment.
“We are glad to have DEWA as the Sustainable Partner for this year's event, as it is one of the key organisations that works to develop a sector capable of supporting the ongoing development of the Emirate. It is a mutual objective to enhance the role played by the media, to make the world a better place for everyone. Discussions during the forum will revolve around the positive impact of the media, to improve people's lives,” said Al Marri.
The 15th AMF will take place from 10-11 May 2016 at the World Trade Centre, Dubai, and will be held under the theme ‘Media for Good.' The event is expected to attract regional and international media experts, journalists, and a number of intellectuals.
