UAE, April 30, 2016 – The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee confirmed its intention to hold an induction meeting titled ‘Official Gazette and Legislative Oversight on Tuesday (May 3rd, 2016) at the Police Officers' Club in the Dubai Police General Headquarters. The upcoming meeting represents an interactive platform for the definition of the Official Gazette of Dubai Government and the most prominent provisions regarding mandatory publication and its legal implications'. The move falls within the framework of the Secretariat's commitment to ensure a proper legal assimilation and optimal implementation of the provisions of the applicable legislation in Dubai to deliver a distinguished legal environment that supports the comprehensive and sustainable development plans.
The agenda of the induction meeting will discuss three major themes, which includes ‘The substantive provisions of the Official Gazette of Dubai Government and regulatory decisions,' ‘Official Gazette Management,' and ‘Legislative Oversight.' The meeting will review the policy and developmental, corrective and preventive systems of legislative oversight as well as discuss the relationship between the government's strategy and the legislation, which is the fundamental pillar to achieve the goals of building an excellent city where all the elements of a pleasant life and the reasons for progress, excellence and success are available.
H.E. Ahmed bin Meshar, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee, said: “The induction meeting is a perfect opportunity to introduce the ‘Official Gazette of Dubai Government' which will give a huge boost to our efforts to enrich the legal knowledge as a source of comprehensive, integrated and reliable source of information related to laws, decisions, rules and regulations issued in the Emirate of Dubai. Given the importance of legislative oversight in establishing the principle of the rule of law and legitimacy, we look forward to highlight the legislative oversight system to which we have given special attention in our efforts to achieve a 100 per cent compliance with the correct application of legislation by 2021 in line with the objectives of Dubai Plan 2021.”
“The meeting will focus on the definition of the importance of legislative oversight system and possibilities of its successful application through cooperation with strategic partners, integration of procedures, and adopt a culture of compliance.
