  • Siemens enters MoU for 2200 megawatt turnkey power plant
  • Power plant project to boost power supply in northern emirates

Dubai, UAE, April 10, 2016:   Siemens has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates' Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) for the development of a power plant project. Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens will submit a 2200 megawatt (MW) turnkey solution for a plant in the northern emirates. The project will enhance the electricity infrastructure in the area.

In the presence of His Excellency Engineer Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, the MoU was signed by Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, Director General of FEWA and Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE. Karim Amin, Head of Sales for Power and Gas at Siemens; Khalid Bin Hadi, Senior Executive Vice President at Siemens LLC; Ahmed Matar Al Mazrouie, CEO of Emirates LNG; and Dr. Eckhard Lübkemeier, German Ambassador to the UAE, were also present at the signing.
    
“This landmark agreement underscores our long-term relationship with the UAE and our commitment to playing an even more active role in developing the country's power infrastructure,” said Siersdorfer. “With our innovative portfolio and comprehensive expertise in power generation and transmission, we look forward to supporting the UAE's national agenda through the expansion of a highly reliable and efficient electricity supply throughout the country.” 

Siemens technology generates approximately 40 percent of the UAE's electricity.
