Dubai, UAE, 21 March 2016: On World Water Day, HE Saeed Mohammed AL Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) , said that, “Today we celebrate World Water Day, under the theme “Better Water, Better Jobs,” to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable development. Water resources and services alike improve the social wellbeing of all humanity, by providing food and energy security, and improving the general health of both people and the environment. This supports the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, set by the United Nations (UN).”

“As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and to achieve the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve sustainable development in the Emirate, supporting the Dubai Plan 2021 to transform Dubai into a clean, healthy, and sustainable city with clean environmental elements, and in line with our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, DEWA is committed to annually celebrate this occasion, renewing our commitment to the rational use of natural resources and contributing to finding sustainable solutions to limit usage, and achieve sustainable development economically, socially, and environmentally.”

“Due to our strong belief in preserving natural resources, DEWA launched an awareness campaign under the theme ‘Every Drop Matters.' The campaign will make use of the best practices to limit water use, and lower the amount of water being wasted, to ensure sustainability for generations to come.”

All year round, DEWA launches awareness programmes and innovative initiatives to encourage society to adopt a positive approach as part of their daily lives to reduce electricity and water use. Through this, 5.6 billion imperial gallons of water has been saved between 2009 and 2015,” concluded Al Tayer.
