Spread a Smile this New Year's Eve

Oxygen Management Consultants and Aga Khan Guides Group teamed up to spread joy this New Year's Eve with Spread a Smile

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 4th January 2016: To mark the beginning of 2016 a group of volunteers visited Rashid Hospital's Trauma Center to bring the New Year festivities to the patients.

Oxygen Management Consultants along with Aga Khan Scouts and Aga Khan Guides Group, (AKSG) organizes 'Spread a Smile' event and visits Rashid Hospital every year on 31st December. The volunteers take gifts and balloons to celebrate the beginning of a new year with patients who are unable to join their families and friends. The Managing Director, Muneer Samnani, from Oxygen Management Consultant started this project with his 2 friends in 2010 which has now grown into a big project with support of AKSG.

This year around 40 ‘Spread a Smile' volunteers brought joy and shared fun times with the patients.

Four years back Oxygen Management Consultants partnered with Aga Khan Scouts & Aga Khan Guides Group, (AKSG). AKSG is based and head quartered at Ismaili Centre Dubai and registered with Sharjah Scout Mission. Their main purpose is to serve the community and has been actively involved in planning and participating in major events in the Emirates including Terry Fox Run, Diabetes Walk, and Clean up campaign.

According to Muneer Samnani, Managing Director, Spread a Smile, “Collaborating with AKSG has been a huge impact for Spread a Smile. It has brought more energy and passion to the project'

This year they touched approximately 125 patients in total. The volunteers shared jokes, listened to the patients stories and put a smile on their face. All the gifts and balloons have been sponsored by the volunteers. Muneer continued, “It really changes the atmosphere of the hospital.

“We also bring balloons and chocolates for the nurses. This act of giving back is very self- satisfactory and makes my, all the volunteers & patients New Year very special”

'Spread a Smile like its name has a simple purpose of bringing joy to people who have suffered and are unable to spend the festive season among their loved ones', said Amirali Shariff, Group Scout Leader, AKSG.
