Dubai, UAE, 29 November 2015: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised, in cooperation with Dubai Sports Council, a football competition, which its staff took part in. This supports the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to organise the annual UAE National Sports Day, and participate in the UAE National Sports Day organised under the theme 'Emirates Brings Us Together.' 

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, honoured the team that came first as part of DEWA's celebrations of the UAE 44th National Day.

“In line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to organise the annual UAE National Sports Day, and in line with His Highness's efforts to make Dubai the happiest city in the world, where all citizens and residents have health and welfare, we are happy to participate in this national activity that enhances the forgiveness and cooperation between the individuals and improve the love and harmony values in the community through the sports language that everyone from different cultures and languages understands,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

“DEWA is committed to enhancing the positive energy concept that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum encourages by inviting its employees and society's citizens and residents to participate in competitive sports activities to brings us all together by a sense of team spirit and union to reach their goals. DEWA is committed to encouraging all its employees to follow a healthy lifestyle by exercising and achieving a good work-life balance. The football competition is part of our commitment to take part in different national activities to encourage different categories of people to adopt a healthier and happier lifestyle. Our community has the potential to be happy, successful and healthy.”

The Football Competition was held at Al Wasl Sports Club and witnessed considerable participation by DEWA's employees distributed in 12 teams. An experienced jury supervised the competition and the organising committee confirmed that the playgrounds met international health and safety standards.
