Emirates Post Group issues stamps on Innovation Week

Dubai UAE, November 21, 2015:  Emirates Post Group has issued a set of commemorative stamps on UAE Innovation Strategy in co-ordination with UAE Prime Minister's Office. The Innovation Week is being observed all over UAE starting from today.

Acting CEO of EPG, Mr. Fahad Al Hosani, said: “Emirates Post Group strongly supports the UAE's Innovation Strategy that seeks to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021. Innovation has been a key driver of EPG's development and advances in the postal field and we continue to innovate as we widen our bouquet of postal and non-postal services. EPG has always supported innovation in the field of posts and logistics and we are therefore delighted to be part of the Innovation strategy of the UAE.”

Chief Commercial Officer of EPG Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam commented: “It is with great pride that Emirates Post Group is supporting the UAE government's drive on innovation. This is a very appropriate stamp because it has the ‘augmented reality' technology that enables people to watch a video of the stamp when a smartphone is placed above it.”

The Innovation Week is highly significant since H. H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE designated the year 2015 as the Year of Innovation to highlight the importance of the culture of innovation in the national agenda.

H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has also launched many initiatives to enhance innovation in the Government Sector. One of them is the National Innovation Strategy with a seven-year plan that aims to stimulate innovation in seven sectors: renewable energy, transportation, education, health, technology, water and space. In addition, His Highness has established Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation and created a new post – CEO of Innovation – for every government department.

The Government Innovation framework seeks to provide Government employees with the necessary instructions regarding the culture of government innovation and how to start the process of innovation within the corporations and contribute to achieving the government's vision 2021.

The stamps have been in a single denomination of AED 3 AED. The stamps will be available in all post offices from today.
