Dubai, November 7, 2015: Iittala's Christmas 2015 is illustrated with Klaus Haapaniemi's Christ-mas pattern. It is rich and mysterious, typical for this talented artist's visual world. The season brings additions to Haapaniemi's Tanssi col-lection, as well as classics in red.
“The whole idea of Christmas in modern society to me is escapism from everyday routine and a fast-paced lifestyle. I still think the best part of Christmas is how the atmosphere evokes the 'inner child' inside every mind. For me, the imaginary side of Christmas is something that brings the spirit of out-of-this-worldness to quite a dark period of the year.”
Haapaniemi's Christmas is far from tradi-tional. The seasonal pattern with mystical Christmas trees and dark guinea fowl is based on the recently launched Tanssi collection and brings a new Christmas feel to the pattern. Tanssi is inspired by the visuality Haapaniemi created for the Finn-ish National Opera's performance of Cun-ning Little Vixen in spring 2015.
“The Christmas tree brings a promise of summer to every home. At the same time, it creates a surreal atmosphere and decorat-ed fantasy.”
Some new collectibles have been added: five ceramic Tanssi wall plates with rich and unique décor make a perfect gift for friends or dinner hosts. The glass bauble of the Tanssi range is just one of the collecti-ble items in the Iittala-designed Christmas tree decorations range.
The Iittala Christmas is complete with the red classics. Items of Teema, Kastehelmi, Taika and Nappula are available again for the Christmas season in the familiar shades of red and cranberry.
To continue an Iittala tradition, Klaus Haapaniemi was asked to select 10 of his favourite gift items from the Iittala collec-tion. The selection for Klaus's family and friends includes the newly launched Ruutu vase by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for himself, a classic Sarpaneva pot for a chef friend, and, of course, a Kastehelmi glass bowl for his dear cat Putte.
Iittala's stores and shop-in-shops are the perfect destination for gift shopping this year, because the gift wrapping is also in Klaus Haapaniemi's distinctive style.
The Iittala Collection is available in Jashanmal Department stores.
