Abu Dhabi, UAE, November 3, 2015: Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE's national railway network, celebrated UAE Flag Day today to mark the eleventh anniversary of HRH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi's accession as President.
Etihad Rail and Etihad Rail DB senior management and employees gathered together for the flag hoisting ceremony and then formed a human flag at the site of the Etihad Rail's depot in Mirfa.
“We are celebrating UAE Flag Day today, as part of the nationwide campaign, in a sincere expression of national unity and recognition of the wise leadership of HRH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.” said Etihad Rail CEO Eng. Faris Saif Al Mazrouei. “Etihad Rail remains committed to serving the nation by unifying it through its rail network. We hope to continue to support and contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the UAE, bringing important social and environmental benefits with it”, he added.
In addition, Etihad Rail also celebrated UAE Flag Day on social media with a successful competition inspired by the UAE and Flag Day, which saw high levels of engagement with people sending in their entries of creatively designed Etihad Rail locomotives in large numbers.
Etihad Rail's celebrations were part of a nationwide initiative led by HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has called upon all citizens of the UAE and government departments to hoist the UAE flag as a sign of national unity.
