Egypt President Al Sissi Attends Special Performance of Sharjah Epics, “Egypt, the Place and the Status” and “Clusters of Light” in Cairo

SHEIKH SULTAN BIN AHMED AL QASIMI: THIS IS A TOKEN OF SHARJAH'S LOVE FOR EGYPT AND TRIBUTE TO OCTOBER 6 VICTORY

CAIRO/Sharjah Media Centre: October 7, 2015 – Egypt President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi today (Tuesday, October 6th) attended a special performance of operetta, Egypt, the Place and the Status and the celebrated epic oratorio, Clusters of Light, hosted by Sharjah Media Centre in Cairo.

Welcoming President Al Sissi in a grand ceremony at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre said that the special operetta, Egypt, the Place and the Status and the magnificent epic, Clusters of Light are a special gift and token of love of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for Egypt and its people. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi began his welcome speech with a quote from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, who studied in Egypt and has always had a special bond with the people of Egypt: 'I lived in Egypt and studied at Cairo University. I stayed in Giza and studied with historians and heritage scientists. I am 100% Egyptian-made. Egypt has given me as much as the sun gives Earth. I came to Egypt seeking knowledge and I found in this country all kinds of knowledge. Whatever we do for Egypt is nothing but a drop in the ocean of Egyptian generosity.'

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said: “These are the words that flowed from a loving heart for Egypt. In the spirit of love and loyalty instilled in our hearts by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah towards this great country, we have come from Sharjah of the UAE, from the land of Zayed, proudly bringing to you the epics of Egypt…the Place and the Status and Clusters of Light, as a gift from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to Egypt and its people.”

Reaffirming the special ties between Sharjah-UAE and the Egyptian people, the Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre said that Egypt holds a special place in the heart of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and in the heart of every Emirati and Arab citizen. ‘We are here today to celebrate with you the 42nd anniversary of the great victory of October through a national epic and another that reveals the true tolerant nature of Islam and highlights its celebration of the values of justice, love and peace,' he added.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said that special operetta, Egypt, the Place and the Status, presented by Sharjah Media Centre narrates the story of great Egyptian civilisation and heroism through three acts. It celebrates the glorious victory of October, which was a triumph not only for Egypt, but also for the entire Arab nation.

The Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre said: “Clusters of Light is an epic that narrates the greatest story ever told, while Egypt…the Place and the Status is one whose chapters were written by Egyptians for history to preserve in its chronicles forever. We in Sharjah, particularly at Sharjah Media Centre, take great pride in our work with the Department of Moral Affairs of the Armed Forces to hold this historic celebration. We are all honoured to stand before you today. And as we have been taught by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, this is only part of what we owe this great country.”

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi prayed to Allah to protect Egypt from all harm and its continued pride of place in the comity of nations. The special presentation at the historic 30 June Stadium today were attended by top dignitaries, senior diplomats and media from Egypt and the UAE and from across the region. The performances were followed by national anthems of the UAE and Egypt.

The Cairo performances are part of the Sharjah Media Centre's initiatives to support the wider Arab cultural movement across the region in which Egypt with its rich history of culture and arts has played a leading role for the past several decades. The shows are expected to attract more than 35,000 spectators over their five-day run.

Produced by Sharjah Media Centre, the media and communication arm of the Government of Sharjah, the epic, Egypt…the Place and the Status, has been written by Muhammad Al Bogha. The music is composed by Khaled Al Sheikh and operetta is executed by Multiple International with a stellar cast that includes top Egyptian stars Sharif Munir, Amr Saad, Mohammed Al Helo, Ahmed Saad, Mohammed Rashad, Mai Farouk and Carmen Suleiman.

The 20-minute show includes three Acts that tell the story of Egypt, from the extraordinary victories achieved by the Egyptian army on October 6th, 1973 to the end of the Bar-Lev line to the Revolution of June 30, when a new era of developments began to shape the new Egypt. The Clusters of Light was first presented in Sharjah at Al Majaz Amphitheatre last year to mark Sharjah's crowning as the Islamic Culture Capital for 2014. It shines the light on the life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and Islam's humane message that soon captured the global imagination and won hearts and minds everywhere.
