Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 9, 2015: The Dubai Health Authority has formed a central emergencies and disasters committee.

The committee is a multi-disciplinary DHA team, which will be headed by Dr. Zeyad Faoor Alrais, head of intensive care section at Rashid Hospital.

His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, the chairman of the board of the DHA, said that the aim of the committee is to develop processes, policies and procedures to effectively tackle disasters in cooperation with other UAE authorities.

The Committee will develop general plans to address emergencies and disasters in coordination with other departments of Dubai Government.  The committee will prepare internal emergency and disaster plans for the DHA's hospitals and healthcare centers. In addition, the committee will also prepare an emergency plan for epidemic and infectious diseases with an effective reporting system so that relevant information can be delivered to the concerned authorities in the UAE.
