Aim of council to improve quality, efficiency and ensure continuity of healthcare services.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates 27 June, 2015:  His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board of the Dubai Health Authority(DHA), issued a decree to form a DHA medical council.

The aim of the council to improve quality, efficiency and ensure continuity of healthcare services and the council will be chaired by Dr Shawqi Khoory, board member of DHA.

The members of this  DHA council include Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector, Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Healthcare, Dr Alya Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of Rashid Hospital, Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital, Dr Saif Abdulla Bin Lewali, CEO of Hatta Hospital, Dr Moza Al Zaabi, CEO of Al Jalila Children's Speciality Hospital, Dr Ali Sayed Hussein, director of Pharmacy at the DHA, Dr Jamila Al Sheikh, Director of Medical Education and Dr Abdul Rahim Mostafavi, senior consultant in paediatric surgery at Latifa Hospital, Dr. Mansour Nadhari, head of anaesthesia department at Rashid Hospital, Dr Faisal Al Badri, head of general surgery at Rashid, Hussein Al Samt, head of pathology and genetics department at Dubai Hospital, Dr Fathiya Al Awadi, head of Endocrine Unit at Dubai Hospital, Dr Mehnaz Kamali,  periodontist at Dubai Health Authority, Ms. Jane Griffiths, from the medical education department and Yousif Ibrahim Al Ali, director of administration at Dubai Diabetes Centre.

The council will executive the health plans and policies that are approved by the DHA, will identify challenges and present effective solutions for the same.

The council will form specialised work teams and will prepare and approve medical policies and procedures that will be implemented throughout the DHA hospitals and health centres to ensure uniformity across DHA health facilities.

The council will review and adopt the best global trends in healthcare keeping in mind DHA principles.

All these steps are aimed to further increase the quality of medical services and enhance access to healthcare.
