The Role The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within a hygiene product facility, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production of products such as wet wipes, tissues, diapers, sanitary pads, and related hygiene items. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and regulatory compliance standards (ISO, GMP, SASO, ESMA, etc.) Key Responsibilities: Production Planning & Execution Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans to meet customer demand and delivery schedules. Allocate manpower, machines, and materials efficiently to maximize output. Monitor production KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime, scrap rate) and take corrective actions. Allocate resources to attend to machine breakdown and machine modification and installation. Operations Management Oversee the full production process including mixing, cutting, converting, packaging, and QC checkpoints. Ensure all machinery and equipment operates at high efficiency. Ensure minimization of breakdowns and ensure preventive maintenance is executed on time. Provide weekly and monthly reports related to factory operations. Quality & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to hygiene industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 22716, GMP, HACCP). Work closely with QC/QA teams to investigate non-conformities and implement corrective actions. Maintain traceability, batch documentation, and production records as per regulatory requirements. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Support safety audits in coordination with QHSE Manager. Team Leadership Supervise production supervisors, maintenance, operators, and shift leaders. Conduct training on SOPs, machine operation, hygiene standards, and safety procedures. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Inventory & Cost Control Monitor and order raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables usage. Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for replenishment. Control wastage, optimize resources, and reduce work in process (WIP) Process Improvement Identify and implement process optimization techniques (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma). Drive automation and efficiency improvements in converting and packaging lines.
Requirements Education Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Experience 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in the hygiene, FMCG, or paper-based converting industry. Experience with wet wipes, tissue converting, sanitary product preferred. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of converting machinery (wet wipes production lines, tissue machines, packaging lines). Knowledge of raw materials (nonwoven, chemicals, fragrances, packaging films). Understanding of GMP, ISO, HACCP standards. Proficiency in production software/ERP systems.
