Dubai, UAE, 11 October 2025: To celebrate World Mental Health Day, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library organised a lecture titled Balanced Work Environments… Productive Minds, by Dr. Ahmed Al Nuaimi. Attended by a diverse audience, the lecture aimed to shed light on the critical role mental well-being plays in the lives of individuals and communities, particularly employees—in light of the increasing pressures and challenges faced globally.
Al Nuaimi presented a comprehensive overview of mental health, emphasising that it encompasses not only the absence of mental illness, but also emotional balance, adaptability, stress management, and nurturing positive social relationships. He stressed that mental health care is now an essential component of holistic healthcare.
The lecture addressed the importance of psychological balance in coping with work-related and everyday stress, the impact of anxiety and depression on productivity, and practical strategies for preventing mental health disorders, such as exercise and meditation. It also discussed the role of educational institutions and workplaces in fostering supportive environments for mental well-being.
Furthermore, Al Nuaimi highlighted the latest global studies, including Harvard Health reports (2021) that confirm the strong link between psychological satisfaction and physical health, as well as findings from the International Labour Organization (ILO), which indicate that investing in mental health can increase productivity by up to 25%, reduce absenteeism, and improve overall institutional performance.
The event included an interactive session titled Achieving Psychological Balance. The session allowed attendees to ask questions and share personal experiences on stress and psychological challenges. During the session, Al Nuaimi offered practical tools for enhancing mental balance, including deep breathing techniques, time management, effective communication, and the crucial role of family and social support in promoting mental health.
At the end of the event, attendees commended the initiatives organised by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library to spread community awareness, break the stigma around mental health issues, and encourage individuals to seek support when needed.
This event reflects the Library's commitment to spread knowledge and promote societal awareness to build a healthier, more positive community—where books and knowledge pave the way for a better future.
