Union Coop to Sponsor the FAZZA Championships for People of Determination 2020

For the second year, Union Coop is among the list of ‘diamond’ sponsors of FAZZA Championships for the People of Determination 2020

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 11, 2020:   The largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE ‘Union Coop’ signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Club for People of Determination, under which the Union Coop sponsors the ‘FAZZA Championships for the People of Determination’ for the second year in a row. The move highlights Union Coop’s keenness to support the event morally and financially, to achieve an integrated society. 

The MoU is signed by Mr. Harib Mohammed Bin Thani, Director of Operations division, Union Coop on behalf of the CEO and Mr. Majed Abdullah Alosaimi, Executive Managing Director at the Dubai Club for People of Determination and the manager of the championship in the presence of number of officials and employees from both sides. 

Highlighting Union Coop’s history with such initiatives, Director of Operations division, Mr. Harib Mohammed Bin Thani said: “Through this sponsorship, we aim to offer equal opportunity to the people of determination, which ultimately contributes to the aspirations of our wise leadership to reach top position in all fields, in addition to working towards consolidating sports as a culture in the society for its positive influence and benefits.”

Bin Thani in his comments was optimistic about corporate social responsibility as a trait among private institutions as he points out: “Union Coop aims to promote the concept of corporate social responsibility among all private institutions, thereby motivating them to adopt such basic roles and extend a helping hand in strengthening contributions towards such initiatives and contribute to the renaissance of the state, as well as contributing to instil kindness and giving approach that is adopted by our wise leadership since the formation of the state.” 

For his part, Mr. Majed Abdullah Alosaimi, Executive Managing Director at the Dubai Club for People of Determination expressed his appreciation for Union Coop’s support over the years to the event, he said: “All thanks and appreciation to Union Coop, which was and still a major supporter of the FAZZA Championships for the People of Determination.

FAZZA Championships for the People of Determination event has become a tournament of paramount importance in the category of Paralympic sports as the most elite level athletes from all over the world participate in it, all of this did not come all of a sudden but with constant support from our wise leadership and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. Moreover, this was possible also because of the support of Government and Private institutions that tirelessly work and deploy efforts to actively organize a committee that prove their worth year after year. The 12th edition of Fazza Championships falls with the launch of the Expo 2020, which carries with it many goals and aspirations that we seek to achieve in line with Dubai’s vision and embody it in the best way as usual.”
