Mall Crawl

From the launch of the exciting new Mall of the Emirates with the world’s largest indoor ski slope in tow, to the ‘eight malls in one’ Ibn Batuta Mall, shoppers are on a perpetual high in Dubai.

The Mall of the Emirates is the largest shopping mall outside North America and features 350 shops, a 400-room Kempinski hotel as well as a man-made ski slope. The ski slope even features real snow, a somewhat difficult idea to grasp in the desert.

The large and expansive Ibn Batuta Mall was designed with the name of the famous traveler in mind. With each separate mall representing a worldwide theme, getting from China to Persia is all in a day’s walk.

For those into designer labels, the extended BurJuman is a one-stop mall for all the designer labels. All the top brands from Chanel to Louis Vuitton plus a SAKS 5th Avenue retail store are available.

Equally designer-conscious is the ever stylish Emirates Boulevard located within the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel. The perfect place to take a flexible friend, this gleaming mall features a Tiffany & Co. Bvlgari and Armani among many others. There is also Villa Moda, Dubai’s answer to London’s Brown’s with specially hand-picked designs from top labels such as Prada, Mui Mui and Ghost.

Wafi is a great city to shop with oodles of good quality restaurants, great designer shops and a cinema nearby. Deira City Centre is a mall that contains something for everyone and is particularly famed for its wide array of high street brands such as Debenhams, Top Shop, Forever 21, Oasis, Benetton and more. There is also a Carrefour in the complex, a perfect place to pick up TVs, DVDs, clothing and home accessories.

Other malls known for their charm and design are the Village Mall, Mercato, and Palm Strip all located on the Jumeirah Beach road. The Village Mall as the name denotes has a village like atmosphere and quaint but cosy shops. Mercato on the other hand has been built on the Italian Renaissance style.

The Dubai shopping experience is set to get bigger and better with the world’s largest shopping malls, the Dubai Mall which is currently being built in the City of Arabia , a vast ‘city-within-city’ that is currently taking shape in Dubailand, frequently touted as Middle East’s answer to Disneyland.
