Small and Cozy, they’re Just Right for a Family Outing
| Town Centre, Jumeirah: Top |
Apart from the very useful Empost counter there, the Town Centre in Jumeirah is essentially an elegant mall blending the old with the new. Punctuated with a large number of cafes and malls, the most popular is the Café Ceramique where you can pick up a piece of pottery along with a cup of coffee in what is literally called the “Taste of Art”.
The oldest mall in Dubai recently got a facelift. Renovated very recently, Al Ghuriar has some of the best brands to boast of. And if that is not enough, it now houses an eight-screen cinema. But there is still a traditional atmosphere amidst its maize-like two storeys where you will find abayas and dishdashas for sale.

Designer clothes include Cartier, Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Villa Moda which is so elite that it has its own entrance from the car park. If you are looking to unwind, there is also a health club and a spa that is branch of the 1847, Dubai’s first men’s only spa.
This is a good spot for souvenir hunting after a hard day of lounging at the beach. Panache and Sunny Ache offer good craft and gift items while the stationery shop on the ground floor has adjacent range of art supplies to give vent to your imaginative side.
Apart from its eye-catching pink exteriors, this mall has an outstanding second hand bookshop called the House of Prose while another Heat Waves is your one-stop shop to buy UV protection and beachwear before going for a dip in the sea.
A community atmosphere prevails in the Lamcy Plaza, one that makes it stand out among the others. The weekend fiestas are all fun and excitement and it is something quite unique about this mall. Not just the Lou Lou Al Dugong a kid’s play area where a gigantic merry-go-round will transport your kid to a magical world, but the food court, located centrally also lends it, its distinctive feature.
It’s the only shopping mall that is open seven days a week, particularly on a Friday morning. There are five floors of open door shopping that is full of bargains. Shopping is fun and lot’s more.
Sandwiched between the jumeirah mosque and the public beach, it’s a post beach arcade that sells Arabic perfume and chocolate. The highlight is a walk-in nail bar where you can gove an instant makeover and designer look to your nails.
It’s a popular hangout for the locals on the Deira side and is home to several big stores like the Home Centre, Lifestyle, Splash and the Baby Shop. There is also a huge fun city where children can get all hyper active.
