Ever get that 'Am I poisoning the home with so many artificial cleaners' feeling. It's not a lost cause. Help is at hand; in fact it is on most kitchen shelves. The lowly but incredibly versatile, Baking Soda works as a -

Carpet Freshener: Combine ¾ cup baking soda, 2 tbsp-corn starch, and ¼ cup perfumed talcum powder. Sprinkle on dry carpet; let it stand 5 to 15 minutes, then vacuum.
- Refrigerators : To clean exterior and interior walls, dissolve 2 tbsp baking soda in 1 qt warm water and wipe all surfaces. For stubborn spots, rub with baking soda paste. Be sure to rinse with a clean, wet cloth. (This works well on other enamel-finished appliances as well.)

Actually I do have a long list of the miracles baking soda can perform. Baking soda is unique, in that, it deodorizes by bringing both acidic and basic odour molecules into a neutral, more odour-free state. So use it as a personal deodorant for underarms and feet as well as a household deodorant.
