New Zealand increases its range of high quality food produce in the UAE

United Arab Emirates, 14 December 2014: Spinneys Supermarkets has partnered with New Zealand’s premium poultry producer, Tegel Foods to bring Pure New Zealand Premium chicken to UAE consumers.

With the support of New Zealand Trade & Enterprise Dubai (NZTE), Tegel joins a number of New Zealand premium Food & Beverage brands active in the market.

The partnership between Tegel and Spinneys Supermarkets is based on the synergies between both companies, who share the vision of providing quality, safe and fresh poultry to consumers in the UAE.

Spinney’s Chief Executive JCF Holtzhausen outlines the relationship: “Spinneys is recognised in the UAE as a high quality premium shopping experience, with a well-deserved reputation for food safety, quality, freshness and service.”

Haylon Smith, New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner to Dubai says the partnership between Spinneys and Tegel highlights the strength of the New Zealand’s trade relationship with the UAE.

“The GCC has been a significant market for New Zealand for a number of decades. Our two-way trade with the region is just shy of US$5 billion, making it our seventh largest trading partner.  It is great to support Tegel’s success in the UAE market and see another high value product from New Zealand available for the UAE consumer.”

The initial range of Tegel chicken launched on shelves of Spinneys’ fresh meat department in May 2014 and has since grown to a range of 39 innovative products across a range of categories, throughout the supermarket.

Tegel’s CEO Phil Hand acknowledged the importance of the relationship with Spinneys, saying: “We are very proud to partner with Spinneys. New Zealand chickens are among the healthiest in the world; the unique environment means freedom from all the major poultry diseases, eliminating the need for immunisations and injections.
