    Soyuz FG rocket boasts with UAE flag and Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center logo in preparation for September 25 mission

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  September 22, 2019:   The Soyuz FG, carrying the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft, in which Hazzaa AlMansoori, the first Emirati astronaut, will launch to the International Space Station, is emblazoned with the logo of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center and the UAE flag along with the flags of Russia and America in preparation for the historic mission. The Soyuz rocket was first launched in 1966, and the launch system was developed by Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation, Energia, and built by the Research and Production Development Center of Progress Rocket Space Centre in Samara, Russia. The photo of the Soyuz FG rocket was taken from the  Baikonur Cosmodrome facilities in Kazakhstan, where the three stages of the rocket are being assembled ahead of the launch.

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  September 22, 2019:    The main crew, which includes Hazzaa AlMansoori, Oleg Skripochka, and Jessica Meir, and the back-up crew, composed of Sultan AlNeyadi, Sergey Ryzhikov, and Thomas Marshburn, visited Baikonur Cosmodrome Museum. During their visit, AlMansoori and AlNeyadi handed the mission’s logo ‘Zayed’s Ambition’, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) logo, and MBRSC’s book ‘Race to Space’, to the curators of the museum. The main crew members then signed on the Soyuz mission logo, which has their names.     Emirates first on-board for biometric boarding

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  September 21, 2019:   Emirates is once again pushing the boundaries of technology, becoming the first airline outside America to receive approval for biometric boarding from the U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP). Soon, customers flying from Dubai to any of Emirates' 12 destinations in the U.S. will be able to choose facial recognition technology at the departure gates, reducing the time taken for identity checks to two seconds or less. No pre-registration is required, and customers may also choose not to use the technology.     Airbus forecasts need for over 39,000 new aircraft in the next 20 years

    Dubai, UAE, 18 September 2019:   Early on Friday, 6 September, a batch of salmon arrived in Dubai in the cargo hold of Emirates flight EK 28 from Glasgow. The shipment of Scottish salmon, destined for restaurants and consumers in the UAE, was the first that was being transported for Seafood Souq, a Dubai based start-up working on transparent and efficient sourcing of seafood, by Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates. The flag carrier recorded 84.8 percent load factor in this month despite the global shrinkage of demand in the aviation sector.     Salam Air launches Four weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Muscat

    15 September 2019, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi Airports has announced the commencement of four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Muscat in Oman with Salam Air. The inaugural flight, which is operated by Oman’s first low cost airline, Salam Air, arrived from Muscat to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on September 10.     Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  September 08, 2019:  The main and back-up crews of the mission going to the International Space Station on September 25th, visited the Gagarin museum at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in Star City, Russia, on September 5th where they viewed historic space artifacts and signed the Visitor’s Book in the Museum of Yuri Gagarin’s office.  They then headed to Red Square in Moscow for traditional ceremonies, including the laying of flowers at the Kremlin Wall where Russian space icons are interred.     Trade War Impacting Air Freight Demand

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  September 04, 2019:   The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), contracted by 3.2% in July 2019, compared to the same period in 2018. This marks the ninth consecutive month of year-on-year decline in freight volumes. Air cargo continues to suffer from weak global trade and the intensifying trade dispute between the US and China. Global trade volumes are 1.4% lower than a year ago and trade volumes between the US and China have fallen by 14% year-to-date compared to the same period in 2018.  The global Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) does not indicate an uptick.     United Arab Emirates - February 26, 2019:  Cathay Pacific Group has released combined Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon traffic figures for January 2019 that show an increase in the number of passengers carried and a decrease in cargo and mail uplifted compared to the same month in 2018.
