    Ma'an Rolls Out New Program to Get Abu Dhabi Community Involved in Making a Social Impact

    Nursery children gift Eid packages to labourers

    August 8th, 2019; Dubai, UAE:  The spirit of sacrifice, generosity and the desire to bring a smile on the faces of the less privileged came to the fore as the young children of British Orchard Nursery put together almost 200 Eid packages for labourers in Dubai.     An increase of 36.7% compared to the first quarter

    37,906 Fatwa issued by IACAD during the second quarter of 2019 Dubai, 8 August, 2019:  The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) issued 37,906 oral Fatwa through Ifta department of IACAD during the second quarter of 2019. As many as 171 visitors wishing to obtain Fatwa on various subjects were received, and a special team of 16 muftis (males and females) answered questions about various religious, jurisprudential and Sharia topics.  The data issued by the Ifta department for the second quarter of 2019 indicates that 12,831 questions were raised, accounting for about 34% of the total queries.     DFSA signs MoU with the Central Bank of Egypt

    Dubai, UAE, 7 August 2019: The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to enhance the relationship and cooperation between both institutions and facilitate the performance of their respective supervisory tasks and promote the safety and soundness of banks in their respective jurisdictions. This includes, but is not limited to, combatting financial crime, conducting consolidated supervision of common firms and discussing crisis management.     Dubai Customs foils smuggling 274,000 captagon pills

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  04, August 2019:    Dubai Customs foiled a drug smuggling attempt in which the smugglers concealed the drugs in the fuel tank of their vessel. They thought inspectors will not search in that hot spot of the vessel near the engine which can reach up to 60 degrees Celsius.  The confused dhow captain aroused the suspections of the inspectors who has high experience and training in body language. Thorough inspections led to uncover 137 plastic bags that contained 274,000 Captagon pills. This is the second biggest drug seizure for the Coastal Customs Centers Management after the seizure of 783,800 captagon pills in 2018.     Dubai Customs seizes 800,000 Captagon pills in Port of Jebel Ali

    Dubai – 27 July 2019:  Dubai Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle 800,000 Captagon pills into the country in a special seizure called ‘International Day Against Drugs Operation’. The drug haul was found concealed in the fuel tank of a boat shipment coming to the Port of Jebel Ali.  It all started when Customs Intelligence officers became suspicious of an inbound shipment to Jebel Ali Port that was flagged by the Risk Engine system as a high-risk container consignment containing a boat shipped from an Arab country.    A team was formed from Special Tasks staff of Customs Intelligence Department and inspection officers at Jebel Ali Customs Inspection Center to carefully track down the movement of the shipment.
