    WCM-Q Researchers and Students Publish Study on 3D Tissue-Engineered Drug Screening Platforms

    Doha – May 23, 2022: Senior researchers and medical students at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) have published a paper focused on improving drug-screening platforms for vascular diseases.     Carnegie Mellon Team Creates Three-Year Computer Science Curriculum

    New curriculum is piloted in seven Qatar schools   A team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, has created a three-year computer science curriculum for middle school students to prepare students for higher level classes in computer science. The project was funded by a Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) grant from the National Priorities Research Program. The new curriculum is being piloted in seven Qatar schools this year, as well as schools in Pakistan and the United States. The team has already trained more than 200 teachers, who are teaching the new curriculum to more than 20,000 students in total.     WCM-Q Students Boost Key Physicianship Skills with Cornell Stars Program

    Carnegie Mellon Students Win National Arabic Debate Championship

    April 28, 2022:  A team of students from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, won the QatarDebate Arabic National Universities Debating Championship in Arabic, with all three debaters placing in the top ten speakers of both the tournament and championship.  Rahaf Abutarbush, Ammar Karkour and Abdullah Shaar had a perfect record in league competitions this academic year, placing first in the Arabic National Universities League. In the championship final, they faced off against a team from Qatar University, and were ultimately victorious. This is the second consecutive year the team has won the Qatar national championship, and the second consecutive year that Shaar won best speaker.     Doha – April 27, 2022:  Forty-eight talented high school students with ambitions to become physicians have completed the challenging Qatar Aspiring Doctors Program (QADP), run by the Office of Student Outreach and Educational Development at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).  The program runs from September to March and offers advanced tuition in the physical sciences, biology, research skills and English for academic purposes to help students who wish to study medicine at WCM-Q hit the ground running.     Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), in collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), held workshops to train information technology professionals in Qatar on securing their Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) networks.
