flydubai receives “Outstanding Sector Leadership and Growth” award at the MEA Business Achievement Awards 2024

The Dubai-based carrier was recognised for its outstanding sector leadership and growth at the first edition of the MEA Business Achievement Awards 2024

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28 June 2024: flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, received the “Outstanding Sector Leadership and Growth” award at the MEA Business Achievement Awards. Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, received the award on the carrier's behalf at an awards ceremony held in Dubai. The event was attended by key members across various industries such as travel and tourism, aviation, banking and finance, technology as well as hospitality.

Voted by industry experts, this award honours the carrier's strong and agile business model and its dedication to innovation and enhancing connectivity to new and previously underserved markets which has enabled its sustained growth.

Since the start of 2024, flydubai has added several destinations to its network including Mombasa in Kenya, Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia as well as Al Jouf and The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. The carrier is also preparing to launch its first flights to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan from 01 July and expand its operations in Europe with the start of its services to Basel in Switzerland from 02 August, Riga in Latvia from 11 October in addition to Tallinn in Estonia and Vilnius in Lithuania from 12 October.

Today, the carrier continues to expand its network of over 125 destinations in 58 countries served by a young and efficient fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft.

Since commencing operations in 2009, flydubai has welcomed on board more than 100 million passengers and opened up more than 90 new routes that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or the UAE.
