The project is set to generate an estimated 750,000 kWh energy annually for the campus

6 November 2019 - Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), a leading energy service company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced the signing of an agreement with BITS Pilani Dubai Campus for the installation of a rooftop solar PV system of capacity 500 kWp.

The agreement was signed by Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO; Ranendra N Saha, Director, BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus; and Krishna Kumar Singh, General Manager, BITS Pilani, Dubai. Upon completion, the project will generate an estimated 750,000 kWh energy annually for the campus.

Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO, said: “At Etihad ESCO, we remain keen to serve educational institutions as we attach great importance to setting the right examples for the future generation. The implementation of the solar project for BITS Pilani campus in Dubai will not only help us add value to the efforts aimed at generating green energy, but will also encourage other universities in the region to contribute to energy savings and become advocates for the promotion of renewable energy.”

“We believe in setting an example for our students by implementing what we preach. We are glad to have partnered with Etihad ESCO for the installation of solar panels at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus as it will help our students to understand the importance of using and generating clean and renewable energy. In addition, our move will also contribute to the achievement of the energy saving targets set by the Dubai Government,” said Ranendra N Saha, Director, BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus.

Etihad ESCO aims to create viable performance contracting market for energy service companies by auditing and proposing energy conservation measures to major building contractors/developers, bringing Dubai closer to the achievement of its sustainability goals.
