  • Microsoft named exhibition's artificial intelligence partner
  • Event tackles security-related themes including innovation, artificial intelligence
  • Leading companies from 55 countries including US, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Turkey and South Korea to showcase cutting-edge security solutions
Abu Dhabi-UAE: 5 March, 2018 –   Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the eighth edition of the International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018) will kick off tomorrow at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) under the theme ‘Because Homeland Security is Everyone's Concern'.

Running until 8 March, the leading biennial event for national security and resilience hosts returning mega-security firm Thales – an exhibitor since the inaugural edition of ISNR in 2008 – as well as cutting-edge solution provider and the exhibition's digital transformation partner Huawei, participating for the second consecutive time.

The event has drawn the participation of government delegations from friendly countries and prominent national security firms from the US, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Turkey and South Korea. Jointly organised by the UAE Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Reed Exhibitions, ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018 is featuring two co-located specialised industry events including InfoSecurity Middle East – the regional edition of InfoSecurity Europe, and Major Events Safety & Security Summit (ME3S).

UAE-based international cyber security firm DarkMatter is supporting the exhibition as its strategic partner. In addition, Safe City Group, a homegrown turnkey solutions provider for smart and safe cities, has been named innovation partner, while the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Agency (CICPA) and Signals Intelligence Agency (SIA) have assumed the roles of associate partners.

Renowned supplier of geographic information system (GIS) software Esri has been named GIS partner, while satellite imagery and GIS solutions provider Space Imaging Middle East has signed up as crime prediction partner. In addition, US multinational technology company Microsoft has been named artificial intelligence partner for ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018.

His Excellency Major General Dr Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector-General of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018, said: “ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018 aligns with the UAE National Innovation Strategy and the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Reinforcing the growing reputation of the event among government and private security professionals and key stakeholders, the upcoming edition has succeeded in attracting a large number of local, regional and global companies as well as leading experts in the national security sector.”

In line with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, this year's edition of ISNR Abu Dhabi is poised to demonstrate how artificial intelligence will revolutionise national security, heralding a shift from traditional physical security and law enforcement towards a more transformative and digital future. More than 20 workshops and features, including a 37-stand trail to guide the attendees, will be powered by artificial intelligence. Set to redefine the future of policing, the event spotlights artificial intelligence solutions within critical infrastructure protection, major events security and cyber security.

Furthermore, the Innovation Awards, held on the second day of the exhibition, will recognise ground-breaking technologies across five categories – artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, unmanned systems and robotics, digital crime management and forensics, as well as smart and connected cities. The organisers will select the best entry in each category out of 15 shortlisted innovations from the UAE, the US, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and the UK, and announce the winners during a gala dinner.

In line with the UAE National Innovation Strategy, ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018 will also present CyberX, developed in collaboration with Scenarios4Summits. Making its debut at the event, the interactive roundtable will feature high-impact immersive videos as well as scenario-based moderated discussions, introducing new security training techniques for the future.

In another first, the upcoming edition of the event will launch the Safe City Control Centre, an innovative platform powered by Safe City Group that seeks to demonstrate state-of-the-art security technologies in action. Catering to UAE first responder operators, the simulation will showcase specially designed consoles and control room solutions.

For her part, Meline Eolmezian-Soulie, Group Exhibition Director of the Security and Safety Portfolio at Reed Exhibitions, said: “ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018 has undergone a substantial transformation to cater to the ever-changing national safety and security sector. In addition to welcoming first-time participating countries including South Korea, Russia and Switzerland, this year's edition is introducing a host of new features to bolster national security measures, such as the free-to-attend Critical Infrastructure Protection, Future of Policing and InfoSecurity Exchange forums, spanning a total of 70 hours, CyberX, Innovation Awards, and the Safe City Control Centre.”

ISNR Abu Dhabi 2018 covers the entire scope of homeland security sectors, such as digital crime management, forensics, critical infrastructure protection, border control, policing, counterterrorism, disaster management, transformative digital solutions, crime and offender management, and safety and security at major events and crowded places.

The mega security event is set to host 25,000 local and international attendees including 200 government buyers and delegation members plus over 600 exhibitors from 55 countries.
