A sustainable community initiative aimed at transferring knowledge from experienced people to future graduates with more than 90 participants from the Alumni Association
An integrated system linking UAE youth for a happier future
The creative initiative launches its third day-long conference addressing the challenges facing young people in developing themselves personally and professionally, refining their skills, achieving their ambitions and aspirations, and encouraging them to take advantage of education and employment opportunities.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 25 October 2017: The ‘AMSI VOICES' initiative, which was launched by a group of graduates from Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI), continues to support youth, enabling them to unleash their potential, explore educational and professional opportunities, upgrade their skills, enrich their expertise and fulfil their responsibilities. The supporters of the initiative include graduates from Al Mawakeb School in Al Garhoud and Al Barsha and the International School of Arts & Sciences (ISAS) in Dubai, who are currently holding high-level and prestigious positions within various business sectors.
In this context, ‘AMSI VOICES' launched its third conference aimed at young people seeking expert advice and a transparent exchange of views to support their academic, personal and professional ambitions and aspirations.
Prior to the conference, the founding committee met and decided to adopt 'making my decisions, owning my outcomes' as the unified name of the conference starting from this edition.
The conference was held on 24th October 2017 at Rodah Al Bustan Hotel Dubai Airport, with more than 300 young men and women in attendance. The day included a number of activities including workshops and guidance sessions on how today's decisions impact future success and how to belong to a multi-cultural society. In addition, there were two self-addressing sessions exploring ways to change course and meet post-school expectations, as well as keynote addresses from AMSI alumni.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General of the Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, and an AMSI alumna from the class of 1995, inspired the audience with her keynote address: “To tomorrow's graduates I say, it is ok if you don't have the answer and it is ok not to know, as long as you choose something you really love. I would also like to thank the AMSI Voices team for giving me an opportunity to reconnect with my past, because they are part of my present and definitely part of my future. I kept looking for more, but more came from the people I know and the bonds we made.”
Mrs. Alissar Nasr Soubra, AMSI Chief Academic Officer, added: “For the third year in a row, the AMSI conference took place in an atmosphere of increasing enthusiasm from all those involved in the initiative, whether panellists or speakers, who are essentially a constellation of AMSI graduates or graduating students. In fact, this turnout is indicative of the bright future we see for a country that has grown to love giving, volunteerism, and initiatives aimed at benefiting the public.
The love of giving and hope in tomorrow are rooted in the souls of our graduates, who do not hesitate to take the hands of their colleagues approaching graduation to transfer their successful experiences to others, and to foster a good culture that enhances the security, prosperity and development of the community.
The organising committee of the initiative chose 'making my decisions, owning my outcomes' as the title of this year's conference, believing that it is necessary to develop a sense of responsibility and independence among young people. These are the two main poles of self-realisation, succeeding, and bringing about positive change.”
A number of outstanding graduates from AMSI schools joined students from the eleventh and twelfth grades during the conference, including: Alia AlNaboodah, Board Member of Khalifa Juma Al Nabooda Group; Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Vice President of Medical Services at Etihad Airways Medical Center; Hala El Gergawi, Executive Managing Editor of Zahrat Al Khaleej; Essa Ebrahim Al Shamsi, Director of Terminal 3 Operations at Dubai Airport; Khaled Sharaf, Manager of Business Development & Integration at Expo 2020 Dubai; and Saleh Al Geziry, Director General of Ajman Tourism Development Department. The speakers at the conference were distinguished leaders and executives with rich experience in various fields of business, and the determination and commitment to help guide Dubai's youth towards a better future.
The ‘AMSI VOICES' initiative is led by a nine-member steering committee including: Hind Seddiqi, Chief Marketing & Communication Officer at Seddiqi Holding; Mariam Al Afridi, Director of Government Communications Department of Economic Development; Mania Merrikhi, Marketing and Communications; Mahra Al Khaja, Project Manager at EGA and make-up artist; Alissar Nasr Soubra, AMSI Chief Academic Officer; Mohammed Al Harmi, Director of the Corporate Development Department at Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre; Dino Drimakis, Operations Manager of NMK Electronics Group; Firas Al Bannani, Development Manager at AMSI; and Tarek Berri, founder of Tarek Berri Architects. The organising committee of ‘AMSI VOICES' worked collaboratively to prepare the rich agenda of events, meetings and workshops, provide training and supervision opportunities, and launch programmes to support youth in the UAE.
This year's ‘AMSI VOICES' conference followed the 'Girls are Makers of Change'' conference, which was held in March 2016, and the 'What's next? Seek it, commit to it, embrace it…' conference held in October 2016. Both previous conferences achieved great success, highlighting the job opportunities available to students, the challenges of the work environment, and the importance of balancing professional and personal life.
‘AMSI VOICES' will continue to invest time and resources to connect young people with AMSI's network of graduates and provide everything they need to thrive, thereby enhancing their lives and their motivation to achieve the aspirations of the UAE leadership.
