Lieutenant Dhahi Khalfan Tamim head of General Security of the UAE, and former Malaysian cabinet member Idris Jala will speak at this year's Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the knowledge platform will run from 7-8 November at Dubai World Trade Center, and will feature these known dynamos in the public sector.

Dr. Ahmed Nusseirat, Coordinator General - Dubai Government Excellence Program, said: “This year's Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices will be held under the theme ‘An inspiring government shapes the future and achieves happiness'. This theme calls on all government employees to demonstrate courage and commitment in their work, and these speakers are models of what each of us can achieve when we do.”

Dr. Al Nusseirat noted that the sessions are opportunities to draw inspiration from leaders in government and hear directly from those who have reshaped their governments.

Leaders at the peak of government
H.E. Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Happiness of the UAE Cabinet, will appear one the opening day of the Forum, delivering a keynote lecture under the event theme, “An inspiring government shapes the future and achieves happiness”. H.E. Al Roumi was appointed Minister of Happiness in 2015 while serving as the Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office. H.E. Al Roumi has been tasked with facilitating a happier society and delivering on the social good, and she will share her insight on this year's main stage.

Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, whose tenure transformed the role and reputation of Dubai Police, will address the question of leadership. In his distinguished career as deputy chief of Dubai Police, Lt. Tamim has been credited with modernizing the ranks and introducing innovative approaches to training, forensics and even rehabilitation in the force. Lt. Tamim will elaborate on what inspired him to chart these new depths.

Joining these luminaries on day one is Dr. Idris Jala. A veteran in government, Jala was ranked among Bloomberg's 50 most influential policy markers worldwide. Today, Dr. Jala is head of PEMANDU, a unit of the prime minister's office in Malaysia tasked with spearheading Malaysia's transition toward a high-income status by 2020. Jala has gained a reputation as a champion of the impossible, and will share his successful track record of developing a succession of sustainable socio-economic reforms in his country.

Ahead of the event, Hazza Al Neaimi, Head of Excellence Awards and Initiatives, applauded the achievements of all three speakers.
Al Neaimi said: “One of the aims of the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices is to provide attendees with the tools to pursue excellence in the public sector. At this year's Dubai Forum, all attendees will have the benefit of hearing from three remarkable speakers as they highlight the experiences that have shaped their journeys and led them to extraordinary success. Today H.E. Al Roumi, H.E. Tamim and Dr. Jala are role models for every man and woman eager to reach new heights in government.”

Al Neaimi continued: “For ten years, the Dubai Forum has helped employees strive for innovation and excellence in their daily work, and speakers who represent courage and gravitas have been the most important part of that work. I have no doubt that the speeches from these extraordinary people will be among the highlights of our program.”
