Invites UAE Students to Register and Compete for Educational Trip to China

Dubai, UAE – September 30, 2017:   Huawei, the leading global ICT solutions provider, has launched the “ICT Skill Competition 2017” in the UAE. The global competition is aimed at universities and students, the program seeks to recognize and nurture the UAE finest ICT talent and prepare this generation of students to lead the country's ICT industry into the future by embracing digital transformation. Registration in the UEA is open, and will be closed on October 20.

In line with Huawei's mandate to support governments' digitization strategies and national visions, the ICT Skill Competition will run in 10 countries across the Middle East with the aim of developing the next generation responsible for driving digital transformation.

Spacelee / Li Xiangyu, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Huawei Middle East said, “We are very excited to launch the ICT Skill Competition in 10 countries in the Middle East. The competition contributes to the development of the ICT talent ecosystem that is essential to coping with the region's digital transformation. I have confidence in the talents we have in the region, and I encourage all ICT skilled students to participate through their university,”

Mr. Spacelee continued, “Huawei has always been keen to support the UAE national agendas, and with the UAE vision 2022 approaching, we have to equip the young generation and make sure they are ready to lead the next ICT decade. We are thankful to all the government authorities and the universities that are supporting this initiative, which we believe will have a key role in creating a talent pool of the ICT future leaders in the UAE.”

The top skilled teams will be selected to travel to Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where the final stage of the competition will take place between 11th and 15th December 2017. This will be the last step in an arduous journey— and those who make it to the final stage will already have passed through two rounds of highly selective examinations at a local and national level.

Huawei will grant the winners an exclusive fully paid trip to the company's international headquarters in Shenzhen and the chance to meet with the brand's leadership team. They will gain unrivaled exposure to Huawei's expertise in telecommunications, enterprise, and consumer business, not to mention a priceless cultural experience and knowledge exchange.

The winners of the international final competition in Huawei Shenzhen Headquarters will receive certificates, trophies, and prizes, in addition to awarding the most outstanding team with $30,000 USD in cash, the next two teams will claim second place and three teams will be awarded third place. The next seven teams will receive Excellence Prizes, while six tutors and five academies will also be recognized with the Excellent Tutor and Best Academy Prizes.

The competition is part of Huawei's longstanding effort to have a positive impact on the community in the Middle East. Huawei has already implemented a Seeds for the Future program to offer training and internships to promising students across the region. The ITC Skills Competition offers students additional opportunities to gain valuable experience in the industry. Participants will work in a real laboratory, and tackle some of the industry's most complex challenges. The competition material is based on advanced IP and IT material, and the students will take one paper test and two lab tests to see their knowledge of cloud computing, switching, routing, and network security. It is a unique opportunity for students to test their abilities in ICT's most cutting edge fields.

Students can register by following these steps:
Step 1, log into the Huawei ICT Academy online portal
Step 2, click on “Events”
Step 3, click the “Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2017” to register
