#RamadanWishes fundraising campaign brings happiness to critically ill children
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 17th September 2017: Gourmet Gulf, one of the Middle East's top F&B companies, has raised AED 150,000 for the non-profit organization Make-A-Wish® UAE. The fundraising campaign #RamadanWishes united seven of the UAE's favourite restaurants to help grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Across Ramadan and through July, diners at Azkadenya, California Pizza Kitchen, Dalloyau, Panda Express, Texas De Brazil, The Hummingbird Bakery and Yo! Sushi, were invited to add a small donation to their restaurant bill. In the spirit of giving, the Gourmet Gulf team also contributed and actively raised funds for the campaign. Some of the wishes that have been granted include a bedroom makeover and trips to Disneyland Paris and Japan.
Make-A-Wish UAE serves children in nearly 50 countries on five continents. Since its inception in the UAE in 2010, the Make-a-Wish Foundation has been fulfilling the wishes of children suffering from critical and life-threatening diseases, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Honorary President of the Foundation, the wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the UAE.
“We would like to thank everyone who participated in supporting the #RamadanWishes campaign for Make-A-Wish® UAE – such a worthwhile cause that brings happiness to seriously ill children. Gourmet Gulf's vision to ‘Grow Goodness' is very much aligned with the UAE Government's ‘Year of Giving' initiative to make a difference to the lives of those we care for, and in ourselves – we will continue to contribute and support the country's charitable efforts,” said Stewart Black, CEO at Gourmet Gulf.
“When a wish comes true, it creates strength, hope and brings joy to a child. This is the power of a wish, the power of a community. Together we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We thank everyone who supported this campaign and we look forward to partnering with Gourmet Gulf in future initiatives,” said Hani Al Zubaidi, Make-A-Wish UAE.
