  • Dubai International Academic City enables students with job prospects and career resources for a brighter future
  • First Career Fair to allow students to take advantage of new, part –time, working law

Dubai, UAE, March 13, 2017:  Celebrating ten years of successfully connecting students and prospective employers, Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) this week concluded its 10th Career Fair, held in collaboration with JOB HUNT HR & Management Consultancy at Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP).

Throughout the years, the Annual DIAC Career Fair has evolved into the biggest and most coveted student career event in the region, with more than 6,000 students and 50 companies participating in this year's event. In the era of online applications and job portals, career fairs continue to serve a critical function in bringing together prospective employers and job candidates to allow both parties to network, test the market and establish personal contacts. Research shows that on average, employers are attending 31 career fairs per year, giving jobseekers plenty of opportunities to get in touch.

Looking back at ten years of progressive growth, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah, said: “I am very pleased that the eagerly awaited 10th edition of the DIAC Career Fair has yet again managed to exceed expectations and created 385 job opportunities for students. Since its inception ten years ago, the event has gone from strength to strength contributing to the UAE leadership's growth and diversification vision for the Emirate, by matching young talent with best in class employers.”

This year's Career Fair saw over 300 trainee jobs on offer, along with mid-level career jobs across a variety of fields. Jobs in the hospitality and travel sectors dominated the offering followed by opportunities in the healthcare and pharmaceutical space as well as engineering.

Abdullah added: “From an employer's perspective, finding fresh, skilled and motivated talent can be challenging. The DIAC Career Fair is an excellent platform to equip students and fresh graduates in the region with the right tools and knowledge to shape their future. By helping students and young professionals with expert advice and training, we aim to engage and empower them, so they can build a future for themselves and for the communities they live in. In addition, this year's Fair gave students the opportunity to explore part- time opportunities in accordance with a new directive recently issued by the Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA). The first legislation of its kind in the region, this is an important regulatory milestone for Dubai, as it allows students to gain valuable professional experience that will better qualify them for future employment.”

Founder and Managing Director of JOBHUNT HR and Management Consultancy, Ms. Jaya Bhatia said: “We were pleased to cooperate with DIAC in organising the /10th Annual Career Fair. Building on our successful partnership with DIAC last year, we managed to create more than 300 job opportunities. We also managed to communicate with and connect employers and job seekers together. This year's fair provided us with the opportunity to direct job seekers to focus on opportunities that match their skills and abilities and enable them to develop and be creative.”

In addition to information stands run by key public and private sector employers, the DIAC Career Fair also presented an opportunity for students to acquire important skills to enhance their chances of getting hired. The Fair was complemented by a number of professional workshops for students and graduates to further enhance their CVs and interview skills, including seminars on job hunting and the importance of body language in professional communications.
