At Pitti Immagine Uomo, two events in partnership to present the co-branded capsule collection and celebrate the conclusion of the 'Maserati Centennial Polo Tour'.
Florence- The opening day of Pitti Immagine Uomo, now in its 87th edition, saw the “Pitti Riding” performance event, which culminated in the presentation of the Iconic “La Martina for Maserati Polo-Duvet”. This item joins the five limited editions created as part of the capsule collection dedicated to the “Maserati Centennial Polo Tour” by La Martina.
From the square outside the Fortezza da Basso, a cavalcade of four horses ridden by as many polo players, wearing the items from the Capsule Collection, made its entrance to the building through the main archway. After parading as far as the La Martina stand, made even more elegant by the Maserati Ghibli on display, the polo players dismounted and entered the stand where a special video installation was set in a high-quality travel case which, once opened, lit up and displayed the enthralling images of the Centennial Polo Tour. From the same travel case, the players took the iconic clothing, putting it on straight away and thus revealing the “La Martina for Maserati Polo-Duvet” that will stay on display for the entire duration of Pitti Uomo.
The celebrations culminated with the evening event held at the Loft E' in the centre of Florence. The highlight of the evening was the prize-giving for the best player in the Centennial Polo Tour, preceded by a group of percussionists who performed an original piece inspired by the galloping of horses. Salvatore Iuzzolini, Brand Development and Partners Manager at Maserati, and Enrico Roselli, CEO at La Martina, took to the stage to announce the winner: Malcolm Borwick, captain of the English National Polo Team.
The cocktail party wowed all present, with five different menus created for the occasion and inspired by the five stages of the Maserati Centennial Polo Tour: USA, China, UK, Monte Carlo and Dubai.
Among those present, the General Manager Maserati Europe, Giulio Pastore, the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, and the blogger Mariano Di Vaio, who have also put themselves behind the wheel of two Maserati cars. Respectively, a Maserati GranCabrio MC Centennial Edition and a Ghibli, the new sedan Maserati, whose arrival, a complement to that of the Quattroporte, was critical to the success of Maserati in the year just ended.
2014, the year of the Centenary, which the company celebrated – among other initiatives – with the Centennial Polo Tour, ended with 1,235 units registered in Italy alone, which became Maserati's main European market and one of its main markets worldwide, after North America and China, with a 382% increase in sales with respect to 2013.
Maserati, whose cars have been and remain genuine style icons, has always been close to the world of fashion and is therefore glad to consolidate its partnership with La Martina on the occasion of this 87th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, in which the exclusive ‘Pitti Riding' event presented the FW2015/16 capsule collection, the result of a collaboration between the two brands.
