The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has received a US delegation to discuss avenues of boosting cooperation in the health fields and exchange expertise between the UAE's health institutions and American businesses with expertise in technology, artificial intelligence, and health technology innovations.

The US delegation was welcomed at the Ministry's headquarters by Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, MoHAP, Dr. Ruqaya Aqeel Al Bastaki, Director of the Department of Medicine. Bruce Ellsworth, Commercial Attaché at the U.S Embassy, and Erik Antos, Vice President of Emerging Markets, Zimmer Biomet, were part of the visiting delegation as well as other senior officials.

Advancing bilateral relations
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen their bilateral relations and reviewed the latest technological milestones and innovations in the health sector, which can help improve community health in the UAE and provide integrated, comprehensive, and distinguished health services in accordance with best international practices.

Dr. Al Amiri stressed the ministry's keenness to expand its international relations with other global counterparts, adding that the meeting reflects both sides' interest in exploring further avenues of collaboration about best international practices in health care. The discussions also touched on the prospects of developing the two sides' ties in the future, by taking advantage of the advanced technologies provided by the medical companies.

Leading projects
Al Amiri briefed the US delegation on the UAE's health strategies, and MoHAP's initiatives and projects, as well as the latest innovative digital health services, qualitative achievements, and development efforts in relation to health studies and research. He emphasized that the ministry is committed to creating a supportive and sustainable environment for foreseeing the future of health services and enhancing the country's position in global competitiveness indicators.

For its part, the American delegation lauded the impressive development the UAE's healthcare system is witnessing as well as the ministry's initiatives to deliver smart and sustainable services based on a state-of-the-art health infrastructure capable of handling pandemics.
