THE KING AND I

|
Based on the most loved and celebrated Broadway musical of all time by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
An independent, unconventional female British schoolteacher ...
A proud and powerful, but good-hearted king ...
A charming and endearing family of royal children ...
When these unforgettable characters are brought together in the exotic splendor of mid 19th-century Imperial Siam, the result is a magical adventure - and so is the story of "The King and I."
|
|
The true story of Anna Leonowens' experiences as the teacher of the royal family became the novel called Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. It served as the basis for the Broadway musical masterpiece called "The King and I," winning 10 Tony Awards. The musical and the film are possibly best known for their celebrated songs by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, including "I Whistle a Happy Tune," "Getting to know you," "Shall We Dance?" and "I Have Dreamed." Now, decades after the first audiences applauded this story, Morgan Creek Productions and Warner Bros. are proud to present an animated feature film version of "The King and I," adapted from one of the most popular musicals in history.
The new family film once again spotlights the beautiful, timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein songs, performed by some of the music world's most gifted interpreters and Broadway's and Hollywood's brightest singing and acting stars. This represents the first time that The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization has ever allowed one of its projects to be developed into an animated feature film.
The tale of Anna Leonowens, a strong-willed, widowed British governess who comes to Siam to provide the King's children with a Western education, and the opinionated yet inspired King of Siam, who is both confounded and bewitched by his children's new teacher, has delighted generations. Now, the Far Eastern backdrop of Siam and the unique charm of the lead roles are complemented by the addition of several animated characters that will make the story irresistible to family members of all ages, including Tusker the baby elephant, Moonshee the mischievous monkey and Rama the regal black panther.

Varsity Blues

Beowulf
In his 35th year as head coach, Bud Kilmer (Jon Voight) is trying to lead his West Canaan Coyotes to their 23rd division title. Uncompromising and omnipotent, Kilmer is deified in the small Texas town, as long as the team is winning.
|
|
But when star quarterback Lance Harbor (Paul Walker) suffers a season-ending injury, the Coyotes are forced to regroup under the questionable leadership of second-string quarterback Jonathan Moxon (James Van Der Beek). His irreverent attitude and approach to football come into direct conflict with the coach's inflexible game plan.
High school football is king in small town Texas where 17-year-old school boys carry the hopes of an entire community onto the gridiron every Friday night. "Varsity Blues" follows the travails, both hilarious and pained, of five seniors on a high school football team in a small Texas town as they approach the end of a near perfect season. With mounting pressure from their hard-driving coach and parents, who live vicariously through the boys' victories, the resolve and determination of the young athletes is put to the test as they seek to finish the season as heroes -- their way.
"Varsity Blues" explores our obsession with sports and how teenage athletes respond to the extraordinary pressures placed on them. It's a comedy with lots of heart, a movie that is as much about teen angst and adults' loss of perspective as it is about high school football.

Bride Of Chucky

|
A castle is enshrouded in shadows, surrounded by death, ruled by a powerful border lord, served by his hardened warriors and guardians of his beautiful daughter.
And now to this castel comes a man, who will salvage the soul of the land and destroy the beast which rules it. They call him Beowulf.
|
|
Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Charles Lee Ray's ex, is a murderess in her own right, and she's been carrying a torch for him for 10 long years. She's also been looking for the remains of the Chucky doll that was inexplicably involved in so many bloody murders, and finally retrieves it from a police evidence repository. After performing a magic ceremony that restores her boyfriend's spirit to the doll, Tiffany discovers he's not the man of her dreams after all; in fact, he kills her and imprisons her spirit in an insipid bride doll. The two pint-size reprobates team up to find themselves new bodies, setting their sights on an attractive, if mixed up, pair of runaway teens (Nick Stabile, Katherine Heigl). Much mayhem ensues.
Perhaps figuring that this late in the franchise there's not much to lose, screenwriter Don Mancini (who created the remarkably enduring character of Chucky) takes his cue from Bride of Frankenstein and goes for the gusto: Bride of Chucky is chock-full of mean gags and outrageous conceits. If, for example, you were curious about how living dolls might have sex, this is the place to find out. Baby-voiced Jennifer Tilly, who can be hugely annoying under the wrong circumstances, may finally have found her niche: She strolls through the roll of Tiffany (both in her human and plastic incarnations) with undisguised glee and goes a long way toward livening up what could otherwise be a rather dreary series of bloody murders.

The Matrix

|
There are two realities : One that consists of the life we live every day - and one that lies behind it. One is dream. The other is The Matrix.
"Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real ? What if you were unable to wake from that dream, Neo ? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?"
Neo (KEANU REEVES) is desperately seeking the truth about The Matrix - something he's heard of only in whispers - something mysterious and unknown - something, Neo is certain, that has unimaginable and sinister control over his life.
|
|
What is The Matrix?
Neo believes that Morpheus (LAURENCE FISHBURNE), a person he knows only through legend, an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can give him the answer.
All I am offering is the Truth.
One night, Neo is contacted by Trinity (CARRIE-ANNE MOSS), a beautiful stranger who leads him into another world, an underworld where at last he meets Morpheus and learns for himself the truth about The Matrix.
No one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.
There, Neo faces another question, as startling as the first:
Is he The One?
Before he even understands what that means, Neo is certain the answer is "no". Some, like Morpheus' colleague Cypher (JOE PANTOLIANO), agree. Others are not so sure.
There are also those who protect The Matrix. Led by the relentless and literally indomitable Agent Smith (HUGO WEAVING), they have methods of gathering information that astound and terrify.
What good is a phone call if you are unable to speak?
Neo, Morpheus and Trinity must battle brutally for their lives against this viciously powerful cadre to find the answers they seek, to understand their own roles in the epic drama unfolding around them, to learn their true power and to recognize their destinies.
Every move, every second, every thought is crucial if they are to free themselves from The Matrix and the existence it represents.
Free your mind.
Every move, every second, every thought is crucial once Neo learns the truth about The Matrix.
It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life.
Rated R for sci-fi violence.

Lost & Found

|
|
|
Dylan Ramsey (DAVID SPADE) is an ordinary guy with a fine life. He's got a great Los Angeles apartment (even with the elderly neighbors' ongoing strip poker game) and a new restaurant about to open. Things are looking good.
"Good-looking" is one way to describe Dylan's new next-door neighbor, Lila Dubois (SOPHIE MARCEAU), but that would be like calling the Eiffel Tower "a nice building." Both are tall, stunning, extremely French ... and somewhat out of Dylan's reach. But he's determined to get Lila's attention.
Unfortunately for Dylan, Lila is focused on three things: re-starting her career as a professional cellist in her newly adopted city; staying away from her dashing and pushy ex--boyfriend, Rend (PATRICK BRUEL); and creating a safe home for the new love in her life, Jack. Jack's short, a little hairy, but in general, good-looking ... for a cairn terrier.
Despite Dylan's attempts to insert himself in Lila's life, he can't get anything more out of her than a neighborly "thank you" -- even after returning Jack following another of the pooch's attempts at running away. So Dylan does what any man desperately in love with the woman of his dreams would do-kidnaps Jack, volunteers to help his distraught owner with the search and plans to produce the lost doggie in time to reap the gratitude (and a date?) from Lila.
But then things start to misfire, thanks in part to the jealous Rene, a missing anniversary ring, Neil Diamond, pink dessert swans and surly loan officers.
"Lost & Found" - a comedy about finding your true love at any price, even if it involves a little dognapping along the way.
ARTIE LANG also stars as Dylan's trusty (and not-all-there) delivery boy Wally, MITCHELL WHITFIELD portrays Dylan's best friend and business partner Mark and MARTIN SHEEN appears as Bank President Millstone. |
