Go Golfing

In Dubai, if it is outdoor business there is no need to dilly-dally. This sporting capital of the Middle East throws in a lot of opportunities to sweat it out under the sun. All you have to do is just make up your mind. To know more about outdoor sports, click here.

Play on a golf course that combines a magnificent 18-hole course with a Marina. Or play twilight golf on the undulating fairways while you enjoy the cool evening breeze off the Dubai creek. Or just take time off to study your action in a hi-tech video swing analysis room.

Making A Dent
Golf is a growing sport in Dubai. More and more people are approaching the game professionally and pursuing it as a career. Shrugging off the stigma as an old man's game, golf is making a dent among youngsters as a real sporty, sweat-it-out kind of game. The general notion that golf has no fitness value holds no ground. One has to walk three and a half miles to play one round of golf. So if you play three times a week, you walk ten miles a day. Once you get involved, the game is as interesting as cricket or soccer.

Maintaining The Greens
If you are a serious Golf pursuer or a casual player just looking out for a change, Dubai Golf courses cater to your needs. With four completely grassed championship-standard courses and one brown (sand) course, Dubai prides itself as the Golf Shangri-LA of the Middle East. The long patches of green grass that unfurls as an oasis in the desert is a wonder by itself. The effort that goes into maintaining this amazingly long stretch of lawns is incredible. One million gallons of desalinated water is required daily to keep the grass green.

The Creek Golf and Yacht Club
The Creek Golf and Yacht Club, which hosts the Dubai Desert Classic has attracted world attention since its inception in 1993. Situated in the heart of the city, just minutes from Dubai International Airport, the Dubai Creek Club is a modern landmark with its distinctive club house, recently voted 'Best Clubhouose' in Golf World's 'Best of the Best Awards'.

The clubs' 18 hole, par 72 championship course rolls 6,839 undulating yards along well-groomed fairways lined with date and coconut palms and shrubbery that lend a distinctive tropical air. Whether you are there to play golf or just savor the ambience, it is a refreshingly different experience.

Clubs To Choose From
Emirates Golf Club, the first grass course in the Middle East is also one of the favourites of the world's top players. To the original 7,101-yard Majils course has been added a second par 72 challenge, the 7,100-yard Wadi Course. Dubai Golf and Racing Club, is a friendly and enjoyable golf course designed along the lines of a traditional Scottish links wit pot bunkers sink into the greensides. In addition, there are mini golf courses for the amateur players and those who play just for fun. For the list of golf clubs in Dubai, click here.
