The Storyteller of Khan Murjan, a theatrical performance in Arabic and English using music, dance, poetry, and acrobatics, mesmerized shoppers and visitors to Wafi, a key sponsor of Dubai Summer Surprises 2008. The show encapsulates the atmosphere and mystique of 14th Century Arabia using authentic antiques, artifacts, costumes, and trinkets from Syria, Turkey, Morocco, and Egypt.

The atrium at the mall was transformed into a medieval setting with a parade representing traders and their caravans. The introduction to the story and the players was narrated by the Queen of Khan Murjan, speaking in Arabic and English and using the classical storytelling narrative.

Performed in the main atrium of Wafi, and in parts of the Khan Murjan below, the Storyteller of Khan Murjan will feature breathtaking performances highlighting the magnificence of the fabled souq’s atmosphere, history, and architectural features. The show will go on at Wafi till July 6, with daily performances at 4:30pm, 7:30pm, and 9:30pm.
