THE ROADS and Transport Authority (RTA) will inaugurate on Friday the Al Nahda roundabout near the general headquarters on Al Ittihad road.
With this inauguration, the first phase of the Al Ittihad Road Development Project has been accomplished.
Peyman Younes, director of RTA Marketing and Corporate Communication Department, said that the new roundabout will ease traffic flow on the road which is regarded as the vital link between Sharjah and Dubai.
It will also help ease traffic flow from Jebel Ali to the Sharjah boundaries.
Younes added that the Al Ittihad road is a basic artery of the traffic from Dubai to the other emirates and its widening will result in minimising traffic congestion.
Younes pointed out that the roads and streets' length are now extended to reach 3,000 kilometres, compared to 1,800 kilometres before the establishment of the RTA.
Regarding morning traffic congestion on the Al Ittihad road, Younes said that it has become limited now as some drivers have started using alternative roads like the Emirates Road and the Dubai Crossing Road.
