THE SHARJAH Cooperative Society (SCS) has declared its plan to support social activities with Dhs2.6 million during 2009.
The proposed activities include cultural, medical, educational, humanitarian, environmental and social foundations.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin, secretary of the society, said that the finance will be distributed among several foundations.
A sum of Dhs170,000 will be assigned to the Department of Home Care for the Elderly at the Department of the Social Care, Dhs50,000 for the Friends of Diabetes Society, Dhs10,000 for the Sharjah Sports Council, Dhs63,000 for the Print of 20,000 copies of the Holy Quran in Braille for the blind at the Khor Fakkan Club for the Handicapped, Dhs20,000 for the Sharjah Environment and Natural Reserves Department, Dhs25,000 for the Sharjah Sports and Cultural Club, Dhs30,000 for the Khor Fakkan School for Basic Education, Dhs26,000 for the Department of Social Protection at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dhs10,000 for Kalba Municipality, Dhs15,000 for Kalba Hospital and Dhs50,000 for the support of scientific training programme of the faculty of medicine students in Japan.
The support will also include the Al Dhaid municipal council, the Sharjah Humanitarian Services city, the Dibba-Al Hesn women's club, the Feminine Union Society and Salma Bint Qais secondary school.
Amin added that the SCS supported different social activities with Dhs2,5 million in the year 2008.
