Ajman Municipality recently launched a comprehensive cleaning campaign targeting 15 areas in the emirate that will witness collection of wastes, removal of plant residues, repaving the roads, spraying pesticides and placing more dustbin containers.
Engineer Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, director of the Environment and Public Health Department noted that the 15 selected areas were chosen after a survey was conducted to find out the main areas in Ajman that lack proper facilities and services.
"The residents of various Ajman areas participated in the poll to express their satisfaction and according to the derived result we managed to find out the least areas that really need to be renovated. Al Nuaimia, which is considered one of the heavily populated areas in Ajman, ranked first that received less satisfaction from residents who urged the civic body to introduce better facilities."
Al Hosani noted that 300 cleaning labourers and 55 cleaning equipment were deployed to conduct the campaign and on the first day, 216 tonnes of wastes were collected followed by spraying of the cleaned area with insecticides and pesticides.
Hosani added: "The next few days will witness cleaning various other areas including Al Rashedeya, Al Suwan, Al Karama, Al Nakheel, Al Rumaila, Al Bustan, Mushairaf, Al Hamedia, Al Zahra, Al Mowaihat, Khan Saheb, Al Helew, Al Jarf and Al Zawra area."
