Finnair and its meal service provider LSG Sky Chefs have signed an agreement with which the catering company LSG Sky Chefs Finland Oy operating at Helsinki Airport will be transferred under the control of Finnair. Since November 2016 Finnair and LSG have been negotiating about new forms of cooperation as the LSG Group does not exercise its purchase option of LSG Sky Chefs Finland Oy. 9 April 2017 (Geneva) - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results for February showing a second month of strong demand growth to begin 2017.
Total revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) rose 4.8%, compared to the same month last year. Although this was below growth achieved in January, year-to-year comparisons are distorted because February 2016 was a leap month. Adjusting for the one fewer day this year, the underlying growth rate was estimated at 8.6%, just under January’s increase of 8.9%. The airport strike will again considerably impact Finnair’s flights on Friday, even though Finnair is in no way a party in the dispute. Dubai, UAE, March 9, 2017: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), rose 6.9% in January 2017 compared to the year-earlier period. While this was down from the 10% annual growth recorded in December 2016 it still was well above the average annual growth rate of 3% over the past five years.
